Club Dues
There are 3 types of costs associated with being a member of Armstrong Cycle Club. This document outlines what the dues include, and what additional expenses an athlete may incur during the season. Including the pre-season, coaches and athletes are active for 5 months and there are two payments made during that time. The first is to the team (Team Dues) and the second is to the MN High School Cycling League for the Race Fees. The amount that one spends on Cycle Club varies somewhat between families.

League Dues
Race Dues of $40 per Race, plus a one time race registration fee of $100:
League Race Dues are collected online at least 2 weeks prior to each event.
While the league hosts 7 races, each team will participate in 5 races. Athletes are encouraged to participate in all 5 events because racing is the culmination of one’s mental and physical fitness. It presents a unique opportunity for athletes to discover previously unknown strengths. Unlike most other sports, nobody sits on the sidelines during the game and everyone scores points, making each athlete a very valuable part of the team’s success. We want everyone to race.
However, with that being said, in the middle of July, the head coach will sit with each athlete and come to a mutual decision about which of the 5 races the student will participate in. Many will do all 5 races, some will not. Ultimately, the cycle club wants to build lifelong active people, and will rely on each athlete’s growing passion to determine individual racing goals.
Equipment Costs:
The expense of cycling varies greatly between athletes, depending on the amount of equipment each rider already has and what their goals are within the sport. Everyone, however, should be able to participate. Be aware that, for safety reasons, NICA allows only mountain bikes for practices and racing. Cyclocross, BMX, Road, Fat Tire, or other bike types are not allowed. See the NICA Rulebook for clarifications.
The club will have some spare equipment for emergencies, but athletes owns their equipment. It is not provided by the school. NICA and the MN High School Cycling League has secured significant discounts with many, many companies across the country, exclusively for NICA registered athletes and coaches. Armstrong Cycle Club is familiar with products available and can help take advantage of these discounts.
