VOLUNTEER ROLES FOR ARMSTRONG CYCLE CLUB
Thank you for your interest in volunteering. Building community and raising stronger, healthier kids is a wonderful way to spend your time. This club simply wouldn’t exist without help from people like you. It is truly appreciated.
Please select & submit a role by filling out the questions below & hitting the "Submit" Button at the bottom of this page.
Job Descriptions:
Ride Volunteers:
(license required)
Unlike most other high school sports, in cycling the coaches can’t stand on the sidelines. We must ride with the athletes in order to keep them safe, provide instructions and encourage improvements. “Ride Volunteers” enhance the ability of the “Ride Leaders” to keep the kids safe. We will maintain no more than a 1:6 adult to athlete ratio in order to hold practice. Riding with the team provides a fantastic opportunity to share in a sport that their kids love, while improving their own fitness levels. No mountain bike skills necessary to participate - We'll teach you everything you need to know.
Recruitment Volunteer:
Having a couple of people that promote the team is essential to our success. We recruit through informational meetings at the schools, word of mouth, signage and our online presence. We have had newspaper articles and TV interviews on local news. One of our most cherished values is inclusiveness, and we would like to broaden our contact with more kids. Your help with this would be invaluable.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Armstrong Cycle Club is looking for a person to coordinate & fill all volunteer roles. The priority are the ones on this page, but additionally, help is needed to get food to the races, photographers, bike mechanics, and other roles. This person will reach out & get parents involved in running the team, so coaches can focus on providing great experiences for the youth.
Fundraiser:
In order to keep our annual club dues to a minimum, we do a few fundraisers each year. Our current fundraising person (Tawn) has done a wonderful job, and we'd like to find someone to work with her this season to get trained in. This is very important work that directly contributes to the clubs success, and does not involve riding a bike. This person can work on their own timeline, while contributing greatly to the team. Over the past few years, Tawn has developed some strong relationships with various businesses and put in place processes that simply need to be continued in future years.
Apparel Coordinator:
We purchase two types of Apparel from two different companies. These processes are already set up, they simply need to be managed by future volunteers. We run an online store through Podiumwear, to purchase all team jerseys, shorts, jackets, arm warmers, etc. The Apparel Coordinator does not handle any money for the online store through Podiumwear. Secondly, we also stock T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, and sometimes stocking caps, which we sell to team members (& families) at cost. The apparel coordinator will manage the stock and money for these items.
Race Day Volunteers:
There is a bit of gear that needs to be transported from our storage unit in Golden Valley to the race venue on Race Day. The Race Day Volunteers will transport this equipment, set it up before the race, ...as well as tear it down & return it to the storage unit after the race is over. In total, it fits in a small utility trailer. If we had a few volunteers for this role, the work could be made significantly easier (2 to set up, 2 to tear down).
